Client Profile: Frank Fumich, ultra endurance athlete, entrepreneur, and philanthropist.
Client Needs: A promotional film for his upcoming 3,000 mile bicycle race across the US to raise awareness for the special needs of former West Virginia University student, Ryan Diviney.
My Analysis: Conveying the symbolism of Frank's physical challenge is necessary to retaining the audience's attention amidst highly repetitive cycling imagery.
My Process: The process of interweaving shots between Frank's and Ryan's daily routines draws the necessary parallel between the two inspiring figures. Incorporating the efforts of Frank's eight-man crew creates a spirit of generosity within the film and also widens the scope of the film beyond a single man to the general public that Frank hopes to galvanize.
My Outcomes: Frank raised over $100,000 for Ryan's medical treatments, more than doubling his goal. Equally important, Ryan became the subject of national conversation, bringing light to his case, similar cases, and the skewed judicial system for first-time aggravated assault offenders.
